Strategic Relationship

There is no more important strategic relationship protecting America's interest in the Middle East than Israel. Israel and the U.S. are allies against state-sponsored terrorism and international terrorist organizations. It is imperative the U.S. strengthen Its relationship with Israel and its neighbors who are in battle with or disapproval of the actions that are being perpetuated against Israel, its citizens and American tourists by Al Queda, Hamas, al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade and the Islamic Jihad. I will support legislation that fully funds joint counter terrorism efforts however I cannot continue supporting the funding toward Israel's military without Israel being held accountable as a democratic state. Israel has ignored the human rights issue within its own borders when it is related to the Palestinians. The United States needs to fund the creation of a cohesive democracy for the people of Palestine with economic and humanitarian assistance from Israel. Good will must be established from our nation and from the Israelis to offset the aggressive and inhumane actions taken from the Sharon and Bush Administrations.
