Jerusalem

  1. Jerusalem must be divided but shared, and serve as a capital to two states.
  2. The old city of Jerusalem should be divided between Israel and Palestine.
  3. Palestine would hold sway in the Muslim and Christian quarters.
  4. The Jewish quarter would remain under Israeli sovereignty
  5. The Temple Mount, also known as Haram al-Sharif, will be under the sovereignty of the United Nations. This will include the Islamic sites on the Temple Mount plaza, the Al’Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock,  the Western Wall and the subterranean space below the plaza, where Jews believe their temple lies in ruins. The United Nations will not permit any excavations beneath the Temple Mount platform and no military presence will be permitted within these borders.
  6. As I stated in the beginning I have experienced Israel through my marriage and the people who visit the Holy Land every year. The United States needs to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy from Tele Aviv to Jerusalem. When elected, I will support legislation that will ensure the recognition of Jerusalem as the natural capital of the state of Israel and the future state of Palestine.
